During the 2nd Millennium the imagery of Canaanite bronze gods was derived from foreign, and particularly Egyptian, deities. The conical crown is thought to be influenced by the White Crown of upper Egypt and the 'smiting god' type resembles images of Egyptian pharaohs triumphing over their enemies. These warrior-type figures are thought to represent the storm god, Baal. For a similar 'smiting god' figure see O Negbi,
