Description : Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th to 20th Dynasty, ca. 1550 to 1077 BCE. A mold-formed faience scarab of petite size mounted on a modern 14K gold ring setting. The topside of the scarab features a folded wing carapace, sinuous legs, and a slender head, and shown on the underside are several hieroglyphic symbols including a heart-and-windpipe, a sun disk, and a right-facing crocodile. A setting wire attached above the gold ring shank is fed through the scarab's body to enable the wearability of this intriguing accessory.
