The topside of the scarab features a folded wing carapace, sinuous legs, and a slender head, and shown on the underside are several hieroglyphic symbols including a heart-and-windpipe, a sun disk, and a right-facing crocodile. A setting wire attached above the gold ring shank is fed through the scarab's body to enable the wearability of this intriguing accessory.
