Description : Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, ca. 1500 BCE. This amulet has a flat-backed plaque showing the dwarf god Bes full-faced, with a stylized lion mane and wearing a plumed headdress, There are added details in black pigment. The object has a loop hole for suspension and, like most amulets of Bes, was made to be worn as a protection talisman. Size: 4 L x 1.5 W x 2.75 H (10.2 cm x 3.8 cm x 7 cm) Provenance: Ex-collection Bob Brand and Liz Werthan, Philadelphia PA.
