Description : Egypt, Coptic culture, ca. 1st to 5th century CE. A lovely textile fragment displaying a segment of a vertical band or border in hues of beige, brown, yellow, and green. The fascinating textile presents the image of a standing, anthropomorphic figure facing right with one hand raised to their face below a target motif. Note the weaver's careful attention to detail, as is evident in the figure's slender fingers, lengthy, blonde hair, and cascading green robe or sash. Size (without frame): 4.6 W x 8 H (11.7 cm x 20.3 cm), (with frame): 8.2 W x 10.2 H (20.8 cm x 25.9 cm) Provenance: ex-private collection of actor Anthony Quinn and his wife Katherine, Bristol, Rhode Island, USA acquired prior to 2000 All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
