This is the rating and price for African Dogon Wooden House Post Votive

Description : West Africa, Mali and Burkina Faso, Dogon Peoples, ca. 19th century CE. A fine old example of a toguna post. The toguna is the building in which men's assemblies and council meetings are held - the name means great shelter. Based on the kile wood and patina, this is likely very old for this type of artifact. Comes with custom stand. Size: 5.55 W x 16.6 H (14.1 cm x 42.2 cm) Originally this would have been much taller, with much of it buried in the ground as a support for the toguna. Provenance: Ex-Adeon Gallery, Chicago, IL, acquired prior to 1970. All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. We ship worldwide and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience. #118413
