Beschreibung : Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate Period, 21st to 25th Dynasty, ca. 1070 to 664 BCE. Faience ushabti figure presenting in mummiform with fused legs and arms held atop the chest, all covered in soft layers of blue-green glaze. The stylized head bears ovoid eyes and tapered cheeks, and the lappets of the tripartite wig drape down atop each shoulder. A column of black-painted hieroglyphs is visible atop the legs. The figure is mounted within a modern display frame. Size (ushabti): 1.13 W x 3.17 H (2.9 cm x 8.1 cm), (frame): 6 W x 8 H (15.2 cm x 20.3 cm) Provenance: ex-Stein collection, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, USA, acquired prior to 2010 All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. Condition report : Figure is ancient, display frame is modern. Figure has chip to one frontal corner of foot, with abrasions and extensive fading to glaze pigment and hieroglyphs and softening to most finer details. Nice preservation to overall form. Figure displayed inside frame with an adhesive pad and could possibly be removed, but we do not recommend doing so as it could damage the back of the figure itself.
