Note : PROVENANCE: Commissioned by Mr A.J. du Toit, owner of Le Rhone, in 1950Thence by descent Sale, Stephan Welz & Co., Cape Town, 24 February 2009, lot 213A private collectionLe Rhone was one of the nine farms leased to the first settlers, who started farming in the the Land of Waveren in the early 1700s. It was destroyed in the earthquake of 1969.
