Descrizione : Ancient Egypt, Pre-Dynastic Period, ca. 4400 to 3100 BCE. A hand-carved stone grinding platform and an ovoid handpiece. The oblong basin has a lightly concave grinding platform used to mill coarse substances into finer powders. The handpiece is acutely angled and incredibly smooth on the grinding surface from countless uses. Size (grinding platform): 17.1 L x 11.5 W (43.4 cm x 29.2 cm), size (handpiece): 4.1 L (10.4 cm).
