Descrizione : 26th Dynasty, 664-525 BC. A large glazed composition figurine of Maahes standing in a kilt with tripartite wig and pierced dorsal pillar. Property of a Swedish collector, formerly in the Malte Nilsson collection, acquired 1950s-1960s, thence by descent. Maahes was a deity associated with war, protection, and weather, as well as that of knives, lotuses, and devouring captives. His cult was centred in Taremu and Per-Bast. 15 grams, 73mm (3).
