Notes : Brian Proudfoot, was a good friend and confident to Johannes Meintjes. Proudfoot became the subject to some of Meintje's paintings, such as the portrait rendered in oil and dated 54. The current lot rendered in charcoal, captures the youth and charm of the young Brian Proudfoot, further seen in the black and white portrait photograph taken by Crossberg Studio in Johannesburg.
