Notes : PROPERTY FROM THE COLLECTION OF H. E. AMBASSADOR MME. FRANCINE HENRICHIn his figural paintings Omar El-Nagdi seeks to combine elements of Pharaonic art with Islamic art. In this, his approach is highly unusual in Egyptian art. Egyptian artists drawing influence from the past traditions of that country usually choose one or the other, rather than to blend the two, something which El-Nagdi manages with apparent ease. This an the following lot are two outstanding examples ofhis oeuvre, demonstrating two very different aspects of his figural style.
