Notes : This work forms part of a series developed over a six-year period, exploring the cathartic process of unpacking the Helderberg plane crash. The location of the crash site, along with evidence sourced from a forensic investigator, was incorporated into a mapped image laid over the ocean floor. The ocean becomes both a gravesite and an archive of memory, a place that holds the mystery of the event, which remains unresolved 38 years later. The symbol of the bronchial branches is significant within this series. It draws a parallel between the continuous flow of air through our lungs and the movement of ocean currents, as the Earth relies on these vital tides to sustain life. Thanks to Lyndi Sales for the assistance in the cataloguing of this lot.
