Notes : Bernard Matemera was a member of one of Zimbabwe’s most influential artistic movements, based at Tengenge Farm and known as the Tengenge Sculpture Community. Black serpentine was the preferred material of the community and was also used for this sculpture. While most members chose to treat the stone with wax, Matemera decided to leave it in its rough state, providing the work with a rugged appearance.
