Description : Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate to Late Dynastic Period, 21st to 31st Dynasty, ca. 1070 to 332 BCE. A lovely and wearable necklace strung with dozens of tan-beige, black, and blue faience seed beads coalescing with a central wadjet pendant. The necklace length features a single strand at the terminal tips that branches into double or triple strands at intervals along the length. At the center is a mold-formed faience wadjet pendant, the Eye of Horus, an ancient ocular symbol of protection. The eye is white and unglazed with incised lines outlining the interior pupil. The necklace is strung with a modern brass hook clasp and is wearable. Size of strand: 17.75 L (45.1 cm), eye pendant: 0.75 L x 0.5 W (1.9 cm x 1.3 cm) Provenance: private Corpus Christi, Texas, USA estate collection, acquired 1960s to 1970s All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
