Congo, Shi wood, dark brown patina, kaolin, accentuated cut, slanting brows, large lentil-shaped eyes, framed with kaolin, two drilled holes at the lower rim, the mouth opening fitted into the narrow tapering chin-area, accentuated by a white framing as well, pierced around the rim, slightly dam., hairline-cracks (forehead), missing part (at the back of the chin and at the upper rim on top), socle, ethnical group living in the area between the Tanganyika and Kivu Lake. The Shi are famous for their inventive yet pure shaped wooden beer and water vessels and their beadwork, to a lesser extent for masks.
