Description : Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A mold-formed faience ushabti of a petite size that stands in mummiform atop an integral rectangular plinth. The slender figure holds an incised pick and hoe in arms crossed atop the chest, displays a seed bag incised behind the left shoulder, and shows remains of the original blue-green glaze around his head and upper body. His fragmentary face features only a singular eye and a plaited false beard, and his head is covered by a tripartite wig. A column of inscribed hieroglyphs is visible along the dorsal pillar and when translated reads, The Osiris, the prophet of Osiris, . . . son of . . .
