Description : African, Mali, Dogon area, Djenne culture, ca. 800 to 1000 CE. Very rare and desirable bronze horse and rider figure with four loops below. Remarkable detailing. All of the bronzes from the Pickard Collection and have been checked out with a museum expert on ancient bronze who worked for both the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Sackler Foundation. It is extremely rare to find small, ancient African bronzes that are authentic. These are the real deal! Szie: 2-3/8H (6 cm).
Provenance: Ex-private Pickard Collection, Oklahoma City, OK, Mr. Pickard began collecting African art in 1959 following university study in Africa.
