Description : Polychrome and cobalt carved wood antelope headdress has a label inside reading Kurumba tribal antelope headdress - Upper Volta, West Africa. Antelope depiction, danced at ceremonies associated with the agricultural cycle. (Xmas 1971). This lot is part of a collection from a Louisville, Kentucky residence decorated by Jay Spectre. The award-winning interior and furniture designer was known for his luxurious pieces influenced by Art Deco, Asian and African themes.
