Description : Studies of Italian and Egyptian decorative objects and antiquities with the Abb‚ de Saint-Non's inscriptions 'antiq. de Caylus', 'du Museum de Portici' and 'Portici' in brush over black chalk ( recto ) black chalk 304 x 215 mm. NOTES Three drawings with the same arrangement of objects and the same mounts are in the British Museum (A. Ananoff, L'Oeuvre dessin‚ de Fragonard, II, Paris, 1963, nos. 1128, 1129 and 1132). Despite the inscriptions in the Abb‚ de Saint-Non's hand, none of this series is known through a print. However, similar arrangements of objects, and indeed some of the objects themselves, can be found in drawings by Pierre-Adrien Pƒris engraved by Pierre-Philippe Choffard for the second volume of the Abb‚ de Saint-Non's Voyage pittoresque ou Description des Royaumes de Naples et de Sicile (P.
