Ruf, Pompano Beach, Florida Provenance: Lord William Lever, 1st Viscount Leverhulme (1851-1925), Thornton Manor, Cheshire, England. Private Collection, New York. (with copy of US customs declaration, British air waybill, Art Loss Register no. S00124532, and commercial invoice) Note: In 1922, Lord Leverhulme founded the Lady Lever Art Gallery in memory of his wife Elizabeth Hulme (Lady Lever) who had died in 1913. This Egyptian head was once part of the collection, which is now partially housed in Port Sunlight as part of the permanent exhibits of the National Museums Liverpool, England.

Condition report : Intact as preserved. Overall weathered surface with areas of abrasions and pitting throughout. Minor encrustation, mostly to front under the chin and proper left cheek. Minor chips to eyes and lips, chips to nose with loss to proper left side. Two gashes to the back of the head. No obvious restorations. The break at the neck is uneven and the underside if drilled to accommodate a dowel for a modern metal base. The drilled dowel is permanent, however the base is not permanently affixed. Height with base 8 inches. Overall in fine stable condition. For condition inquiries please contact benwilson@hindmanauctions.com.
