Description : **Originally Listed At $200** Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th to 20th Dynasty, ca. 1550 to 1077 BCE. A hand-carved white steatite scarab pendant of ovoid form with a slender head, a notched wing carapace, and sinuous horizontal legs above an integral plinth. The underside features a broad, incised lotus flower with six large petals radiating from a protruding central dot. The lotus flower is an ancient symbol of protection, so wearing this would have kept its owner safe in troubling times. Size: 0.73 L x 0.47 W (1.9 cm x 1.2 cm) Cf. Petrie, William Flinders. Condition report : Minor nicks and abrasions to topside and bottom, with very light fading to incised lotus flower details, otherwise intact and very good. Nice preservation to overall form.
