Description : Ancient Egypt, Middle Kingdom, 11th to 13th Dynasty, ca. 2130 to 1649 BCE. A dainty scarab bead with a central suspension perforation, hand-carved from mottled purple amethyst with streaky white inclusions. The topside of the ovoid insect is incised to form the semicircular head, faintly frilled clypeus, folded wing carapace, and sinuous legs tucked beneath the body. While unadorned, the underside of the bead exhibits incredibly smooth surfaces. An attractive accessory from ancient Egypt! Size: 0.4 L x 0.3 W (1 cm x 0.8 cm) Provenance: private Toronto, Ontario, Canada collection, by descent, acquired in Egypt in 1894 to 1896 All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
