Description : Egypt, Late Dynastic to Ptolemaic Period, ca. 664 to 30 BCE. An interesting example of a cast leaded-bronze figure of Osiris, god of the underworld, who stands in mummiform with fused legs and feet while holding a heka scepter and flagellum (nekhakh) in hands held closely atop the chest. The relatively elongated face is an intriguing style for Osiris figures, perhaps a provincial example meant to depict the pharaoh or a local governor, with a tall and slender nose, slender cheeks, and high brows situated above ovoid eyes and a plaited false beard. Osiris' elaborate Atef crown consists of the Hedjet crown (White Crown) of Upper Egypt, a pair of ostrich feathers, a frontal uraeus cobra, 2 lateral uraeus cobras, and a pair additional uraeus cobras beneath each spiraling ram horn.
