Bossert - Helmuth Theodor Bossert was a German art historian, philologist and archaeologist. He is best-known for his excavations of the Hittite fortress city at Karatepe, Turkey, and the discovery of bilingual inscriptions, which enabled the translation of Hittite hieroglyphs. (Courtesy Wikipedia.), Otto von Falke - Otto von Falke (born in Vienna, died in SchwŠbisch Hall) was a German art historian. As a son of the art historian Jacob von Falke, he studied history, art history and classical archaeology at the University of Vienna in 1881, where he was promoted in 1887. During his studies, he became a member of the Burschenschaft Libertas Wien in 1882. With the following activity at the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin and traveling, he gained extensive knowledge of the different areas of the art craft. In 1895 he became director of the Kunstgewerbemuseum in Cologne and in 1908 he took over the same office at the Berlin Kunstgewerbemuseum. In 1920 he was appointed Director-General of the Berlin Museums as successor to William of Bode. After his retirement in 1927, he continued to devote himself intensively to scientific work, especially as the founder, editor and chief author of the magazine Pantheon. Through his work he is regarded as the most important German researcher in the field of art. With his numerous collection catalogs, he acquired a reputation throughout Europe. (Courtesy Wikipedia.)
