Description : Details: This lot consists of the antique lithograph shown in the corresponding images. This lithograph, Temple of Edfou, ancient Appolinopolis, Upper Egypt, is taken from David Roberts' Egypt & Nubia, perhaps his most well-known work. This image depicts the ruins of the Temple of Edfou with figures in the foreground. Limited to 250 hand-colored copies, this print was engraved by Louis Haghe and mounted on board as issued. This piece is from the holdings of Archaeologia Books and Prints. Established in 1983, Archaeologia was known for providing scholarly books of quality on the archaeology of Ancient Egypt, the Near East, Greece & Rome, and the Pre-Columbian Americas. Condition / Notes: This antique lithograph, measuring approximately 19 3/4 x 13 1/4 (the mat measuring approximately 27 3/4 x 22 1/2), features French matting with gilt detail. The print itself is clean and bright, with age toning concentrated in the margins. The mat shows minor edge wear and light toning concentrated at the extremities.
