Description : Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate Period, ca. 1070 to 712 BCE. A gold applique depicting the falcon god Horus with tiny perforations through eye, wings, feet, and tail for attachment. Horace, the tutelary deity, was oftentimes depicted as a falcon-headed man donning a pschent symbolizing his reign over the entire kingdom of Upper and Lower Egypt, however, he was also represented as a falcon as we see in this beautiful example. Size: .625 H (1.6 cm), Weight: 0.2 grams.
