Description : A Roman molded jug with two African heads, Egypt, 1st - 2nd Century AD, the body nicely decorated with vertical tongues, the shoulder as well, the spout in the form of an Ionic capital flanked by the two heads of youthful Africans in the round, the spout widely flared. H: 5 1/4 in (13.3 cm). Well-preserved with glossy black surfaces and light deposits, the interior filled with earthen deposits making the overall weight of the vessel rather heavy. Ex Oxford, UK private collection.
