Description : Book Details: This lot consists of the print and accompanying text of Case and Mummy in Its Cerements shown in the corresponding images. The plate, numbered XXVI, is excised from the second volume of Ancient Egypt or Mizraim, by Samuel Augustus Binion (first published in 1887). The text accompanying the print describes the image: This well-wrapped mummy and its splendid case are those of a lady of high rank, of the Graeco-Egyptian period. The printed figures on the right and left of the lid are representations of the sepulchral deities who take part in the judgment of the soul before Osiris in Amenti. At the upper part of the lid is the protective goddess nut, with expanded wings. This plate and its accompanying text are from the holdings of Archaeologia Books and Prints.
