Description : Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A fine set of 3 cast leaded-bronze artifacts from ancient Egypt including a pair of false beards and a left arm. The left arm shows a muscular bicep and forearm, with a hand grasping a petite object, perhaps a fragment of a papyrus scroll. The first false beard exhibits a slender form, with 20 slender lapis lazuli inlays adorning the exterior surfaces, and faint remains of gilt visible along the lower half. The larger false beard features 16 fragmentary lapis inlays that dot the green surfaces with pops of blue. All 3 pieces are covered in fine layers of green patina. Size of largest: 0.75 W x 2.375 H (1.9 cm x 6 cm) Cf. The Brooklyn Museum, accession number 16.241.
