A hand-carved limestone figure depicting Bes, the bandy-legged dwarf deity who acted as a protector for women, children, and the weak. Bes stands alert with hands placed atop his knees, nude save for a delineated leopard-skin pelt tied around his neck, and with a short-cropped beard that resembles a lion's mane.
