Descripción : Ancient Egypt, Pre-Dynastic period, Naqada II to Naqada III, ca. 3500 to 3000 BCE. A lovely hand-built pottery alabastron, so-named because most ancient vessels that assumed this form were carved from alabaster. The round-bottomed vessel has an elongated body which gently tapers up to a neck ringed with incised striations and a flared rim with a smooth lip. Deep red slip forms the chromatic ground atop which chalky yellow-white pigment is applied, and dark red-brown linear motifs form slender columns along the body. Lucite display stand for photography purposes only. Size: 2.25 W x 6.2 H (5.7 cm x 15.7 cm) For a stylistically-similar example with anthropomorphic motifs, please see The Global Egyptian Museum, inventory number E.3002: Provenance: private Turner collection, Ridgefield, Connecticut, USA, acquired at auction around 20+ years ago All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
