Notas : Provenance:Accompanied by an Israel Antiquities Authority Export Approval document no. 0381. Mostly acquired by the present owner from auction in Israel, formerly the Property of Teddy Kollek, the former Major of Jerusalem.Literature:The bead with a naked female figure is very similar to a gilded example in The Corning Museum of Glass, dated to the 1st to 3rd century A.D. and assigned a Sasanian origin, cf. D. Whitehouse, Sasanian and Post-Sasanian Glass in The Corning Museum of Glass, (Corning 2005) p.59, no. 72. However, two examples in the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, have been attributed a possible Egyptian origin and a date from the second half of the 1st Century B.C. to the first half of the 1st Century A.D., cf. M. Spear, Ancient Glass in the Israel Museum. Beads and Other Small Objects, (Jerusalem 2001) p.137, nos 234-5, pl.19
