Descripción : AN EGYPTIAN STONE FIGURE OF TUTU Late Ptolemaic - Roman Period, circa 100 B.C. - A.D. 100 Depicted striding, wearing a striated wig and false beard, with a ram's head on the back of his head, a hole in the top of the head for the insertion of a separate crown, the details of the muscles incised on the lion's legs and a zig-zag pattern on his chest denoting the mane, 4.5cm high Provenance: UK private collection of Miss Ann Louise Grainger (1900-1984). Reputedly acquired by one of Miss Grainger's older brothers, Charles or Fred, who were officers in the army in the early 20th Century, thence by descent. Published: O.E.
