Descripción : Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A mold-made green faience statuette of Mut, goddess of the sky. She is depicted nude in a striding pose atop an integral rectangular plinth, with both arms held against her sides, and a column of hieroglyphs on the verso which state her name. She wears a tripartite wig above her delicate visage as well as a double crown, a headdress typically worn by pharaohs to symbolize their conjoined rule over both Upper and Lower Egypt. Mut is a prominent goddess in parts of Egypt, and came to popularity during the beginning of the Middle Kingdom era. She is traditionally worshipped at Thebes in a triad with Amon and Khonsu, who is said to be the son of Mut. Custom lucite display stand included.
