Descripción : A lot of 4 ancient ceramic lamps. Lot includes a Greek lamp, c. 3rd - 2nd Century BC, with round body and small spout, (L: 2 3/4 in, 7 cm), a Roman 'Frog' Lamp from Egypt, c. 3rd Century AD, of lentoid shape with stylized decoration, (L: 3 in, 7.6 cm), a Byzantine / Islamic type, c. 6th - 8th Century AD, decorated with lines, cross-hatching and rosettes. Cf. Bussiere, Collection Rivel, no. 363, (L: 4 in, 10.1 cm), and a Byzantine / Islamic type, 7th - 8th Century AD, with raised cross on spout, vertical ridges around the shoulder, (L: 4 1/2 in, 11.7 cm). Each is intact with earthen and mineral deposits, all with signs of prior use in antiquity. Ex Orange County private collection.
