Descripción : AN EGYPTIAN BRONZE FIGURE OF IMHOTEP Late Period, Circa 664 - 332 B.C. Wearing a close-fitting garment, with tassels inscribed along the edge at the back, seated with bare feet resting on an integral bronze step, with an unfolded papyrus scroll resting on the knees, 10.7cm high, (12.5cm high inc. base) Provenance: Private collection of a lady, Rome. acquired from Harmarkis Gallery in 1994.  Footnotes: Imhotep, a chancellor, architect and high priest during the reign of the pharaoh Djoser, of the Old Kingdrom, was a mythologised figure in ancient Egypt after his death, eventually deified roughly 2000 years after his death and worshiped as great writer and physician, although scant evidence exists of his having any medical role in his lifetime.
