Descripción : Very nice Senufo Culture Bird Crest Mask with custom stand and plaque. Senufo masks are created by specialist artist who live apart from the rest of the village and combine features of animals and humans in a single design. The artists have high status in society as their masks are believed to have the power to help communication between the living and their dead ancestors. This hand carved mask has beautiful scarification details and prominent animal features, the mask is finished with a cocoa colored shroud with hand stitched Cowrie shell accents. Very good condition with natural wear from age and material makeup. Mask with shroud measures approximately 14.5 high, 7 wide and 12 deep. 21 tall with the stand.
