Descripción : Two (2) porcupine quills, two (2) strips of hippopotamus hide, and a grass reed flashlight from the Central African Republic. The porcupine quills are surprisingly long and stiff and measure 9 1/4 in. long. The hippopotamus hides are thick and rugged and measure 12 1/2 in. long. The quills and hides might have been used in village or witchcraft rituals, but we are not sure. The long grass reed was used to light up a hut at night so villagers could find their way, hence it was called an African flashlight. The reed has burn marks at the tip and measures 10 1/4 in. long.
