Descubra la tasación y los precios de esta y más obras de arte africano en Africartmarket. African Mangbetu Iron Barbed Spear

Descripción : Central Africa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mangbetu peoples, ca. mid-20th century CE. A fine spear featuring a slender wooden handle with 7 petite metal ringlets as well as an iron blade head. The blade head is of a pointed form with 5 curved, downward facing barbs projecting from the sides, and beneath a raised, integral ringlet is a narrow socketing shaft. Barbed spears like this example were intended to not only injure the intended target but cause prolonged wounds since the directions of the barbs makes removing the spear head difficult. Size (spear): 62.125 L (157.8 cm), (blade): 18.9 L x 1 W (48 cm x 2.5 cm) Provenance: private Englewood, Colorado USA collection All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
