Notes : According to the artist, this work is unsigned for the following reason: ‘I went through a period that I detested signatures on paintings. I thought that it was an intrusion on the open spaces around the subject and that it made it too commercial and lowered the artistic ambiance. I still think, looking at [the present lot] after so many years that my signature scribbled all over those clean open spaces would have destroyed a lot of its atmosphere.’
