Notes : Provenance:The Belgravia Gallery, London SW1, September 2002;A private collection.The above work comes from the series entitled My Robben Island and depicts a view of Table Mountain through the bars of a prison cell on Robben Island. The view depicted is idealised and one that resembled freedom and beauty to Nelson Mandela during his incarceration. The Window is one of the few sketches where colour is used throughout indicating the deep emotional value and meaning attached by the artist.
