- Acquired directly from the artist by the current owner's grandparents
- My husband was on business at the East Driefontein mine in Springs when Mr Sithole arrived, trying to sell his paintings
- As I understand, the picture is portraying a mother taking her child to search for the father who works at the gold mines in Johannesburg
- It is on cardboard as at the time he was too poor to buy the correct materials
