Notes : Khaled Ben Slimane is known principally as a ceramicist, working with techniques and media with deep roots in the Arab World and Middle East. This, the first of two works included in this sale (see lot 226), is an example of his work in ceramics, unusually glazed green. Prominently inscribed is the Arabic word huwa, meaning "He" or "He is", a single word with profound mystical connotations.
