This is the rating and price for Wood Staff, 1992

Description : A nicely carved East African wood staff, the handle being a torso, obviously female, with 'arms' at its sides. Beneath the torso is a wide band decorated with circles. This does not mean that there were 'Trade Tacks' as the circles are concentric, and the depression in their centers is wide and shallow. Lovely glossy patina. The wooden shaft is long and set into a shorter iron 'spike' that also has black, stable patina. L. o/a ca.49 in./1m 24.5 cm. Cf. Art & Life in Africa-The Stanley Collection, C.D. Roy, U. of Iowa Museum, 1992, pg.252 & Roy, KILENGI-African Art from the Bareiss family collection, U. of Washington Press 1999/2000 for similar examples, Ex R. Gino & Phil Orlando Coll.
