Description : Vintage woven Artisan bogolan or Bògòlanfini textile from Mali in Western Africa. Textile is graphite black in tone with white tone cowry shell pattern. Measures approximately 65 inches in length by 40 inches in width. Some blemishes, imperfections to seams, and surface wear consistent with age and hand-made quality. Vintage textile, blanket, shawl, artisan textile, textile artist, Hand-Woven, West African Textiles, threadwork. ‘Bògòlanfini or bogolan (Bambara:mud cloth) is a handmade Malian cotton fabric traditionally dyed with fermented mud. It has an important place in traditional Malian culture and has, more recently, become a symbol of Malian cultural identity.
