Description : A very large polychrome wood Ptah-Sokar-Osiris, Late Period, c. 664 - 332 BC, depicted mummiform, wearing tripartite headdress and broad collar, richly painted to resemble the wrappings of a mummy. The figure is mounted into a large rectangular wood base with two line vertical inscription near the end. A beautiful figure with well-preserved pigments and great style! H: 17 1/2 in (44.5cm). Ex-Collection of Ronald Fay, British Diplomat, early 20th century. Ronald Fay was a film maker based in Egypt from the 1930s until the late 50, when his collection was formed. Fay was attached to the British Consulate in Cairo and was involved in documentary film making - the propaganda arm of the British Diplomatic Service.
