Title : U - A Bronze Vase With Faience Stand, 12Th Dynasty, 1938-1759 B.C.
Size : height of vase 6 7/8 17.5 cm., diameter of stand 4 in. 10.1 cm.Provenance : said to have been found near ByblosNew York private collection (Sotheby Parke Bernet, New York, February 17th, 1978, no. 194, illus.)Literature : Egyptian Antiquities from the Charles Pankow Collection, 1981, p. 30, illus.Notes : For the stand cf. McGregor Collection, pl. I, no. 2, which is inscribed royal offering to Sebeh, Lord of Semennu, may he give abundance of provisions for the Ka of Nuneseb. The author comments that stands for rounded bottle-shaped vases are rare, and notes that fragments of a related stand dated to the 11th Dynasty are in the Giza Museum, also compare Bourriau, Pharaohs and Mortals, no. 123, inscribed for a man called Hekeku (Ashmolean Museum, 1971.950), and Ägyptens Aufstieg zur Weltmacht, no. 151.Sotheby's, auctioneer, New York, US
