Description : Male colon figure add to watchlistFante, Ghana light brown wood, black and green paint, kaolin, rising from short legs with stunning big feet and black shoes, dressed with shorts, broad shoulders merging into angled arms with separately worked forearms and the hands turned upwards, crowned by an oval head with regular facial features, dominated by a projecting beard, min. dam., cracks, insect caused damage, slight signs of abrasion, common to all such figures is their origin consisting in the contact between Euopeans and Africans. Usually they show elements of the traditional style of the respective region. Frequently the African artists allowed wit and criticism to flow into their sculpture.
