Of particular interest is the section on Oil and Gas specifically the notes and diagrams on the Karoo Basin (pp.483-494) in light of the recent exploration in this area by the large oil companies and a report is documented on SOEKOR's tests in this area in the 1960's with the summary A fairly extensive seismic survey was undertaken by SOEKOR in the southern part of the basin and a dozen deep holes were drilled.
